Description
Cylindrical, stringy thallus reminiscent of spaghetti. Red to purple or dark brown colour. Soft gelatinous thallus. Simple or sparingly dichotomous branching. Generally about 2 mm in diameter and about 20-30 cm. long. Discoid holdfast.
Habitat
Generally occurs as a summer annual attached to exposed rocky shores. Generally grows among barnacles and limpets in the lower intertidal zone.
