| DiveBorneo is online as of January, 2001 Well, we managed to get content online before the start of the International Seaweed Symposium in Capetown. Dave Myslabodsky went to the ISS representing his company, Great SeaVegetables, as well as representing DiveBorneo in his capacity as a DiveBorneo Associate . He reports that the ISS was a success and we will be reporting on it further at DiveBorneo. We will be steadily adding useful material, upgrading the quality of our site content and bringing in Associates from the global seaplant community over the coming weeks, months and years. A product of seaplant addicts... DiveBorneo is the sort of project that we have wanted to do for several years but it is only with the development of recent IT and Internet technology that a metamediary site such as this has become feasible. This site is not a lavishly funded project; it has been done in the spare time of a handful of "seaweed guys" who have a burning desire to make a useful contribution to this business that has nurtured us over the years. Chemically seaplants may not be addictive but we in the "seaplant community" know how intriguing the whole business of seaplants can be. Why DiveBorneo? The key points are that: >>the global commercial seaplant harvest (by very conservative estimates) is more than two million tons worth at least seven billion US dollars >>the marketplace is fragmented, inefficient and opaque >>DiveBorneo strives to offer cost-effective, decision-critical information to the seaplant industry; largely by connecting underutilized expertise to the people who need it. >>DiveBorneo is being developed as a neutral source of news, expertise, materials and services for use in the world-wide trade of seaweeds, sea vegetables & seaplant products Please have a look at what we're doing on the site, check back with us frequently, get in touch with us and join us as a member or associate. read more... |
